Studi per l’Intonazione del Mare
Participatory project by I SOLISTI for ensemble, 100 flute players and 100 saxophone players in collaboration with Deeltijds Kunstonderwijs Vlaanderen
“Una ecologia dell’ascolto—an ecology of listening”: this is how Salvatore Sciarrino describes his music. In Studi per l’intonazione del mare, a sonic ecosystem unfolds in which micro and macro organisms, processes of growth, fractal relationships, statistical natural phenomena, swarms, and schools are embodied by the soloists and two hundred amateur musicians.
In the months leading up to the performance, I SOLISTI collaborates closely with two hundred amateur musicians from across Flanders. This shared preparation makes Studi per l’intonazione del mare much more than a magnificent concert: it becomes a process of encounter and exchange, in which a new artistic and social ecosystem can grow.
Studi per l’intonazione del mare is more than a concert; it is a musical voyage of discovery that invites the listener to experience the silence, movement, and power of nature through Sciarrino’s refined and innovative compositional techniques.
